For many of us, our view of God has not changed much since we were little kids. Too often, we see God in ways that hinder us in our relationship with Him. For instance, we may see God as a “policeman” who is out to bust us for our behavior, or we may see Him as “the grand old man” who just winks at our wrong-doing. Some of us may even see Him as a “managing director” who controls everything.
Studying the names of God allows us to see into His true character and attributes, which destroy these and other misconceptions about Him. This Sunday, we will look at four “hammers” that will help us break out of the boxes in which we try to put God as we continue the sermon series, ”What Do We Call Him? A Study of the Names of God.”
